Randy just called from the Western Open Fiddle Contest to let me know that our band has been asked to play this evening at 8:30pm, very close to the picking finals. Come out and see some great musicianship at the finals, and give Randy and the boys a wave as they perform on stage! We won't know until later this afternoon if the boys made it to the finals (their first rounds are at 10am this morning), but whoever makes it, it'll be worth watching with so many fine young musicians from all over the Western U.S., including many state champions, competing for the title. Please pray that we'll have the energy to make it through the day; after first rounds, the guys will be heading home to prepare for the concert (and possibly round two), off to the recording studio at 3pm to finish some final touches on the CD, then back to Red Bluff for the evening. The fiddle portion of the contest, which the boys will both be competing in, is being held tomorrow. Hope to see some of you there! (The contest is held at the Tehema County Fairgrounds in Red Bluff; there may be an entrance fee, but I'm not exactly sure what it is.)
***UPDATE 11:45am--Jesse was one of only three finalists in the picking competition and WILL be competing on his mandolin this evening in the picking finals!!!
